Reporting to the Senior Vice President & General Manager, the Director of Security is a member of the senior leadership team and provides oversight of full-time security staff and manages all third-party security contracts. This position is responsible for implementing, maintaining, and updating security policies, programs, procedures, and systems designed to protect the physical assets of the Hamilton Arena, theatre and concert hall. The Director of Security also ensures that all venues are providing a safe and secure environment for guests, tenants, employees, vendors, and contractors.
This role pays an annual salary of $110,000 to $130,000 CAD and is bonus eligible.

This position will remain open until May 22, 2025.
• Develop and oversee strategic safety and security plans with the objective of managing and mitigating risk for Hamilton Arena, theatre, and concert hall during sporting events, concerts, and other entertainment events.
• Implement security programs to ensure appropriate levels of security, safety, privacy, and recovery of company assets, loss prevention, commercial tenants, and patrons.
• Serve as Incident Commander/Coordinator for emergency situtations.
• Participate in and lead the Incident Management Team as required.
• Oversee a safety program focusing on the safety of employees, vendors, artists, athletes, clients, patrons, etc.
• Oversee the implementation and maintinence of all security systems and equipment, including CCTV, Access Control, Credentials, Keys, AEDs, Cameras and SOC equipment.
• Ensure strong collaboration with the Security team and key internal and external stakeholders (e.g., IT, Senior Leadership, Human Resources, Risk Management, OVG Security / Prevent Advisors, and related law enforcement and government agencies).
• Establish and build a collaborative relationship with the Hamilton Police Service, Hamilton Fire Department, Provincial and Federal Agencies, first responders and emergency personnel.
• Manage third-party contract(s) for event security.
• Oversee the staffing of Hamilton Police Service, Hamilton Fire Department and Event Medical needs as required.
• Liase with promoter and league to ensure that appropriate staffing levels are met based on requirements
• Oversee ongoing risk assessment program targeting security and privacy matters, recommend methods for vulnerability detection, remediation, and testing.
• Keep up to date on latest security and privacy legislation, regulations, advisories, alerts, industry best practices, and vulnerabilities.
• Deliver reports detailing overall program compliance and program effectiveness to General Manager.
• Provide training and leadership for Security team in emergency response and business continuity plans.
• Facilitate outside consultants and vendors as appropriate for independent security audits, security system installation & maintenance, and other venue needs.
• Oversee service agreements as needed for the Security Department
• Oversee budget for the Security department
• Other duties as assigned.
• Frequent bending, lifting 50+ pounds, sitting, exposure to multiple external elements, extensive walking through the building.
• 7+ years’ experience in a Security-related field in an arena or stadium directly managing staff.
• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university preferred. • Experience implementing emergency plans and security policies and procedures.
• Proven ability to think strategically with a willingness to roll up sleeves and execute on projects.
• Must be adaptable with the ability to work under pressure.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills, with an expert ability to present and communicate new ideas and concepts.
• Skilled in leading, motivating and developing employees.
• Must have a high degree of personal integrity and be willing to consistently put the interests of the organization first.
• Strong ability to support creative ideation to enhance brand equity while supporting company culture, values, and objectives.
• Must be a strong communicator and cross-organizational collaborator.
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook), CCTV and access control systems.
• Minimal Travel (<10% travel): May be required to travel. Trips may require air travel and/or overnight stay away from home for one or more nights.
• Must be able to work a flexible schedule inclusive of weekends, nights and holidays required
