Position Summary

The Restaurant and Catering Manager oversees the day-to-day operations of Prospects Bar & Grill and all in-house catering, including artist and private group needs, at Tribute Communities Centre. This role requires hands-on leadership in service execution, team development, and client satisfaction while working cross-functionally with all departments to deliver exceptional hospitality. The ideal candidate is a proactive leader with a deep understanding of high-volume, fast-paced restaurant service, strong attention to detail, and a passion for creating elevated guest experiences.

 

This role pays an annual salary of $50,000-$52,500 CAD

About the Venue

The Tribute Communities Centre is Durham Region’s premier sports and live entertainment facility and is managed by Oak View Group. The Tribute Communities Centre is home to the Oshawa Generals of the Ontario Hockey League and hosts a myriad of events including concerts, circuses, ice skating and family shows

Responsibilities

  • Oversee all aspects of service in Prospects Bar & Grill and in-house Catering areas including pre-event setup, in-event service, and post-event breakdown.
  • Lead, hire, train, schedule, and support a team of supervisors, servers, bartenders and support staff to deliver consistent high-level service
  • Drive a positive, solutions-orientated team culture with strong focus on leadership, mentorship and guest satisfaction
  • Maintain a strong and consistent presence on the restaurant floor during service, supporting staff and ensuring smooth operations.
  • Coordinate with culinary leadership to develop timelines and service execution plans
  • Liaise regularly with various departments to ensure alignment of client expectations and event execution
  • Oversee backstage catering, private, and special event activations
  • Own the reservation system and ensure restaurant usage is maximized   
  • Cash out servers and bartenders post events and balance daily sales reports
  • Ensure compliance with AGCO alcohol service regulations and uphold Smart Serve requirements.
  • Monitor and manage labour costs and other operational expenses to meet departmental budget targets
  • Manage inventory, vendor orders, and product flow in accordance with cost control and quality standards
  • Maintain a professional and polished presentation across all guest touchpoints and staff interactions
  • Uphold safety, food handling, and workplace standards in accordance with municipal and provincial regulations.
  • Handle guest concerns or service failures with professionalism, ensuring timely resolution and follow-up.

Qualifications

  • 3-5 years of management or supervisory experience in hospitality, catering or high-volume event venues.
  • Valid Smart Serve Certification and thorough understanding of AGCO service regulations (required)
  • Experience with Food Service POS systems, ADP Payroll (attendance and scheduling) is a strong asset.
  • Demonstrated experience with event planning, guest service and beverage program management
  • Professional communication skills – written, verbal and interpersonal
  • Available to work a flexible, event-based schedule including evenings, weekends and holidays.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook, Word) and web-based business systems.
  • Food Safety Certification preferred, however if missing would need to be completed within 1 month of hire
