Position Summary

The Conversion Crew are the nuts and bolts of our operations team, making sure our events can go off without a hitch. The Conversion Crew is the team that makes sure all equipment is set up in the venue and that all safety precautions are put in place during the setup so our guests are safe in their seats while they enjoy their performance.

 

This role pays an hourly rate of $18.80 - $22.00 CAD

About the Venue

WFCU Centre is a multi-sport complex, including an arena and entertainment center in Windsor, Ontario, Canada. The facility includes 3 public rinks, the “Main Bowl," a swimming pool, and a gym. WFCU Centre replaced the 84-year-old Windsor Arena as the primary home of the Windsor Spitfires and Windsor Express.

Responsibilities

  • Perform general labor as assigned.
  • Primary duties include building conversion for various events.
  • Setup and take-down of chairs, tables, ice decking, dasher boards, Plexiglas, stages, and basketball courts.
  • Actively care for all equipment and property by storing, cleaning, and maintaining changeover equipment.
  • Respond and resolve set-up issues promptly as directed by fellow staff and management.
  • Participate in all aspects of the conversion process for events. 
  • Setting up and tearing down flooring, chairs, barricades, staging, tables, and other furnishings and equipment. 
  • Responding to promoters'/clients' needs as directed. 
  • Work extended and/or irregular hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays, as needed. 
  • Perform various duties to ensure the day-to-day operations of the facility are met, including, but not limited to, loading/unloading delivery trucks, transporting trash and waste to the proper disposal area, and replenishing supplies 
  • Assist, when necessary, with pre/post event cleaning, including, but not limited to, sweeping, mopping, trash removal, vacuuming, spot cleaning, washing, carpet cleaning 
  • Maintain outside grounds, including parking areas, the garage, entrances, and the event plaza.  
  • Perform repairs and maintenance tasks as needed, such as painting, patching, and other conversion-related operational equipment 
  • Follow detailed instructions and communicate effectively. 
  • Maintain an effective working relationship with other departments, clients, and patrons encountered in the course of employment.  
  • Works effectively under pressure and stringent schedules to produce accurate results. 
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Previous experience with conversions is a plus.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule based on events, including nights, weekends, and holidays as needed.
  • Ability to follow basic instruction and direction.
  • Ability to perform general labor; heavy lifting is required.
  • Ability to work nights, weekends, and holidays based on the event schedule.
  • Must be able to work in a manner that is safe and effective.
  • Works effectively under deadlines driven by event schedules and project timelines.

  • Demonstrates both independent initiative and strong collaboration within a team environment.

  • Must be able to follow detailed instructions accurately while communicating clearly and effectively.
