Position Summary

The Catering Server is responsible for providing exceptional food and beverage service during catered events, banquets, conferences, and special functions. This role involves setting up and breaking down event spaces, serving food and beverages, maintaining cleanliness and presentation standards, and ensuring guests receive a professional and welcoming experience. Catering Servers must work efficiently in a fast-paced environment, follow food safety and service standards, and collaborate with team members and management to ensure the successful execution of events.

 

This role will pay an hourly rate of $23.00 CAD.

Responsibilities

  • Set up and break down catering events, including banquet tables, chairs, linens, buffet stations, beverage stations, and service equipment.
  • Provide professional and attentive food and beverage service to guests during conferences, banquets, receptions, and special events.
  • Assist with buffet service, plated meals, passed hors d'oeuvres, coffee breaks, and beverage service.
  • Ensure all food and beverage stations are properly stocked, organized, and maintained throughout service.
  • Clear tables, remove used dishes, replenish supplies, and maintain a clean and welcoming event environment.
  • Follow event timelines, Banquet Event Orders (BEOs), and instructions provided by catering supervisors and management.
  • Maintain high standards of food safety, sanitation, hygiene, and proper food handling.
  • Respond promptly and professionally to guest requests, questions, and concerns.
  • Work collaboratively with kitchen staff, catering supervisors, and fellow servers to ensure efficient event execution.
  • Assist with transporting food, beverages, equipment, and supplies to designated event spaces.
  • Monitor buffet and service areas to ensure food presentation, cleanliness, and guest satisfaction.
  • Follow all company policies, workplace safety procedures, and responsible alcohol service regulations, where applicable.
  • Maintain a professional appearance, positive attitude, and excellent customer service standards.
  • Adapt to changing event requirements and assist in other service areas as directed by management.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned to support the successful operation of catering events.

Qualifications

  • Previous experience in catering, banquet service, hospitality, or food and beverage operations is preferred.
  • Strong customer service skills with a professional, friendly, and approachable attitude.
  • Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced, high-volume event environment.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team.
  • Strong attention to detail, organization, and time management.
  • Ability to follow instructions, event timelines, and Banquet Event Orders (BEOs).
  • Flexibility to work varying shifts, including early mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays, based on event requirements.
  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods and safely lift, carry, and transport heavy objects.
  • Knowledge of food safety, sanitation, and proper food handling practices is an asset.
  • Valid SmartServe certification is required for positions involving alcohol service in Ontario.
  • Food Handler Certification is considered an asset.
  • Ability to maintain a professional appearance and adhere to company uniform and grooming standards.
  • Reliable, punctual, and committed to providing exceptional guest experiences.
  • Willingness to adapt to changing operational needs and assist in multiple catering and event service areas as required.
